Shanghai is calling!
Three interesting, informatory and exciting internship-months in the Global Diversity & Inclusion department at Henkel’s headquarter are coming to an end. This was a great time, having the opportunity to accompany and support very interesting diversity-related projects and tasks.
But new experiences are knocking on the door already: From the beginning of July I will support Diversity & Inclusion projects at the Henkel Asia Pacific Headquarter inShanghai! Realizing that it is just a few days to go quite a bit anxiety attends to the pleasant anticipation: While all important administrative to dos like visa, flight tickets and flat are already “checked” know there are upcoming thoughts about what could go wrong. The culture differences, a new language – even different characters and working and living in a megacity: Will everything work out well? But still the excitement about new experiences, the pleasant anticipation on the vibrant city, the interest in the Chinese culture and the curiosity on new colleagues and tasks outweighs any concerns!
After having learned a lot about diversity and inclusion ‘on paper’ the next three months for me will be characterized by ‘lived diversity’. Since it is often the rather small moments in everyday life, in which the implementation of appreciation, respect and openness is difficult, there is probably no better school than ‘being different’ and a minority by myself. I am really looking forward to this wonderful opportunity – and challenge!
