Monica Sun: My passion about diversity
Monica Sun, President of Henkel Singapore and Malaysia and Vice President of Adhesive Technologies for Southeast Asia, has been recently named one of the Board Agender’s 100 champions. Thereby, she has been recognized as one of the influential leaders in the Singaporebusiness community.
In this blog post Monica explains her passion about diversity:
At Henkel, the management team firmly believes that a diversified team delivers the best results. As such, Diversity & Inclusion is a topic that is given top priority in our company and firmly anchored in our corporate culture. We need the best teams at the right locations. And it is important that we are perceived as an attractive employer — both internally and externally.
At Henkel, we focus on the dimensions of gender, age and nationality. We seek a good mix of international colleagues from all age groups that bring different ways of thinking and working. Also, a primary target is to further increase the percentage of women in leadership positions.
Among many reasons, women are the key consumers or purchase decision makers for a large proportion of our cosmetics products, laundry and home care products and consumer adhesives. Hence, it is important for us to reflect this audience within the employee structure of Henkel.
To promote Diversity & Inclusion, Henkel is committed to supporting its employees in their efforts to reconcile their career commitments with their personal lives, for instance through flexible working time models such as part-time working and home office arrangements. Details on Henkel’s Diversity & Inclusion strategy and practices can be found here.”
The Board Agender’s 100 Champions are senior business men and women leaders, whose individual and company initiatives support gender balance as well as promote women in senior leadership roles and as board members.
The initiative Board Agender was launched in March last year by Mrs. Yu Foo Yee Shoon, former Minister of State, Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sport. This took place on the 100th anniversary at the Singapore Council of Women’s Organization’s during the International Women’s Day celebration.
