“Reducing the stress of commuting has increased my productivity.”

What makes your work and working time model special and what benefits do you see?
I used to spend four hours a day driving to Henkel and back. After I started working from my home office on some days of the week, I began saving four hours of my day to dedicate to myself, my family and my hobby (playing saxophone and flute). It also reduces the risk of accident on the highways and minimizes travel expenses for the company. After a year of working according to this model, some medical tests showed my health has also benefitted a lot from that lifestyle. For me, H.O. is not just home office, but also health opportunity!
Please describe your typical day/work week (e.g. when does your working day start/end? Where do you work? What is your personal work-life balance principle?).
To be really productive working from home office you must have lots of discipline and commitment to the company. I mean, you must respect the beginning and ending times of work shifts and ensure that you achieve agreed deadlines. I can say that the quality of my job when I work from my home office is equal to or even better than when I work at the company’s office. Reducing the stress of commuting has increased my productivity.
What advantages does your line manager have in supporting your work model?
My line manager Adriana Bianca, IT Director responsible for Applications in Latin America, is convinced that flexible work-time models can significantly increase employee motivation, as long as they handle it with the proper responsibility and commitment.
Did the opportunity to work under flexible conditions significantly influence your decision to continue working?
The opportunity to work flexibly is definitively an important reason for me to continue working for Henkel, because it’s directly related to my quality of life. Obviously that depends on three pillars of utmost importance to sustain this benefit for both sides, employee and company: trust, honesty and commitment.
