Henkel awarded at World Diversity Leadership Summit Europe / Henkel beim „World Diversity Leadership Summit Europe“ ausgezeichnet

Henkel has been recognized with the European Diversity Leadership Honour Award in the Multicultural Working Environment category, the jury being particularly impressed by the company’s commitment and transparency in the diversity domain. With employees from 110 nations, of which 50 are represented in its Düsseldorf headquarters alone, Henkel is one of the most international companies in Germany. 

The awards were presented at the World Diversity Leadership Summit Europe, held for its second year in Vienna. “Diversity is an important component in our corporate culture. Our aim is to create a working environment in which, through the formation of heterogeneous teams, the economic, creative and innovative potential of our people are further extended, contributing ultimately to the achievement of even better results,”  commented Anke Meier, Head of Global Diversity & Inclusion.  “For Henkel, diversity is a key success factor.”

Diversity Day in Vienna and Barcelona / Vierter Tag der Vielfalt in Wien und Barcelona

„Respect Unlimited“ – The Diversity Days are events for young people to learn about fundamental rights, equal opportunities and Diversity. In Vienna the event takes place for the fourth time: on the November, 24th at the Vienna Town Hall and on the November, 8th at the Centre Cívic Joan Oliver Pere Quart Carrer Comandant Benítez 6 in Barcelona. The program offers visitors interactive information stands and various workshops. For example, visitors can experience how it feels to sit in a wheelchair or to communicate using sign language.

Last year, about 3000 young people visited the Diversity Day in Vienna. The registration for this year’s events will soon be available at www.diversityday.eu. [DE]

The EDI Conference in Vienna/ Die EDI Conference in Wien

From the 14th to 16th July the third Equality, Diversity, Inclusion (EDI) Conference took place in Vienna. This year’s theme was „Leadership for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at Work”. The conference addresses academics, policy makers and practitioners and offers an international platform for explorations and discussions of leadership for equality, diversity and inclusion at work.

Several academic and doctoral sessions as well as sessions and workshops were held during these three days. For example, Stella Nkomo, Professor for Human Resource Management at the University of Pretoria, South Africa, held one of the keynote speeches, which highlighted the importance of leadership for equality, Diversity and Inclusion in South Africa. On the same day, Lize Booysen, Professor for Organizational Behavior and Leadership at the Antioch University, USA, held another keynote about diversity perspectives in leadership. Overall, the conference offered 17 streams and several workshops. Some of the topics discussed were: Sexual Orientation, Diversity and Equality in Organizations; Promoting diversity and ensuring equality at work: the role of the state, Relational Managing and Leading: The Role of Gender and Women, Work and Globalization in Developing and Transitional Societies. The next EDI Conference will take place on the February 7th and 8th in Auckland, New Zealand. [DE]
